    How to Make a Telegram Post from an Article: 6 Steps and Pricing

    How to make a Telegram post from an article: 6 steps from picking one idea to linking the source, length limits, common mistakes, and autoposting from 7 ₽ per post.

    To make a Telegram post from an article, don't shorten the whole thing. Pick one idea: what happened, why it matters to your reader, and what they should do about it. Then add a strong first line, two or three facts in your own words, your conclusion, and a link to the source. Below are six steps, an example, common mistakes, and a calculation of what it costs to run such posts on autopilot: in Telematic, a post from an article on a website costs about 7 ₽.

    Why You Can't Just Shorten the Article

    An article and a post solve different problems. People read an article on the site because they already came for the topic. A post is read in a feed between other channels, and the decision to "read or keep scrolling" is made from the first lines.

    If you simply compress the article, you get three problems:

    • No point of view. Subscribers follow you, not the source. A summary without your conclusion can be read anywhere.
    • Risk of copying. Someone else's text pasted almost word for word raises copyright issues and damages trust in your channel. Rewrite the meaning, not the sentences.
    • Too much at once. An article has five to seven ideas. A post that people actually finish has one.

    How to Make a Telegram Post from an Article: 6 Steps

    1. Define who the post is for. One sentence: "I'm writing for online store owners who run their own ads." This is the filter for everything else.
    2. Find one idea. Ask: what in this article will change my reader's actions tomorrow? Cut everything that doesn't answer that, even if it's interesting.
    3. Write the first line. A fact, a number from the article, or a question that bothers the reader. Not "An interesting article was published…" and not "Friends, today I'll tell you…".
    4. Retell 2–3 facts in your own words. Check numbers, dates, and names against the original. If you need a quote, keep it short, in quotation marks, and credit the author.
    5. Add a conclusion. What it means for your reader and what to do: check a setting, postpone a purchase, look at your own statistics.
    6. Add a source link and review the post. Length, paragraphs, typos, link preview. Reread it on a phone, since that's how most subscribers will see it.

    Example: From Article to Post

    Suppose an industry publication ran a long article saying a marketplace is changing its return rules. The channel is for small sellers.

    Poor: "The marketplace has published new return rules. The article describes changes to deadlines, conditions, and commissions. More details at the link."

    Better: the first line says exactly what changes for sellers and from which date. Then two facts from the article in your own words: what happens to the commission and who now pays for return shipping. The conclusion: which product listings to review this week. At the end, the link to the article.

    The difference isn't length. The second post answers the reader's question: "so what do I need to do?"

    How Long a Telegram Post Should Be

    Telegram has technical limits: according to the Telegram Bot API documentation, a message text can be up to 4096 characters, and a caption for a photo or video up to 1024 characters. So:

    • if the post goes with an image, keep the text within the caption limit or publish the image separately;
    • a long analysis is better sent as text with a link preview than split across several messages.

    There is no optimal length "for reach": the idea determines it. A good rule is one idea per phone screen. If it doesn't fit, the post probably contains two ideas, and that means two posts.

    Common Mistakes When Retelling Articles

    • Retelling the whole article in order. The reader doesn't understand why they should care.
    • No source link. This shows disrespect to the author and undermines trust, because subscribers can't verify anything.
    • Identical openings. If every post starts with "Friends" or "Interesting news," the feed blurs together. Texts generated by neural networks are especially prone to this. We covered how to fix it in the article "How to Make Neural Network Posts Not Look Generated".
    • Unverified numbers. A neural network can make mistakes in a figure or date when retelling. Always check numbers against the original.
    • The same material twice. When you have many articles, it's easy to post the same news from two sources. Where duplicates come from and how to filter them is explained in "How to Avoid Duplicate Posts with Autoposting".
    • Copying another Telegram channel. If the source is another channel, the same rules apply: rewrite, don't forward. For more, see "Parsing Telegram Channels for Your Own Channel".

    If you publish rarely, the manual approach is enough. If you need a post every day, most of the time goes not to writing but to finding articles, copying links, and publishing. That's the part worth automating. If a chat-based neural network is unavailable or inconvenient to pay for, see "Paying for ChatGPT from Russia for Posts: When You Don't Need To".

    How Telematic Does It and What It Costs

    Telegram autoposting in Telematic follows the same six steps, except the stream of articles is collected automatically:

    • Sources. You add websites, RSS feeds, and public Telegram channels to draw material from.
    • Audience and tone. You describe who you write for and upload 2–5 of your own posts as style samples. The service uses them to write a post, not a summary.
    • Schedule. An interval from 5 minutes to 30 days, a publishing time window, and a daily post limit.
    • Control. Manual approval of each post, or auto-publishing once you trust the results. Editing text and previews are free.
    • Connection. You add the bot as an administrator to your channel. Setup takes about 20–30 minutes.

    Price. One post from a website article or RSS costs about 7 ₽: collecting material 5 ₽, a version for the platform 1 ₽, publishing 1 ₽. Collecting from a Telegram channel is cheaper, at 2 ₽. A month of a channel with 30 posts comes to 120–420 ₽. There's no subscription, 1 token = 1 ₽, 50 tokens are given at signup, and the total is shown in the "Cost calculation" block before launch.

    What stays with you. Choosing good sources, providing samples, reviewing posts before publishing during the first few weeks, and checking figures in important materials.

    Limitations to know in advance:

    • sites with bot protection may fail to load, in which case it's better to find an RSS feed for them;
    • private Telegram channels cannot be connected as sources;
    • RSS and Telegram deliver one item per run;
    • there is no exact publishing minute: posts go out within the set window.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can I publish a retelling of someone else's article?

    A retelling in your own words with a link to the source is common practice for news and expert channels. Copying the full text without the author's permission is not allowed. We are not lawyers: if the topic is contentious, check the publication's terms of use.

    How much does it cost to make a post from an article?

    Manually, it only costs your time. In Telematic, about 7 ₽ per post from a website article or RSS, including scheduled publishing.

    Can I turn an article into a video instead of a post?

    Yes. The same article can become a Short: a script, scene images, voiceover, and subtitles. A 60-second Short costs 112–150 ₽. We described how this works in "From Article to Video in 10 Minutes".

    How often should I publish posts from articles?

    As often as you can check them. One carefully reviewed post a day is better than five retellings nobody finishes. The daily limit is set in the schedule.
